Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) is an organization committed to ending worldwide hunger by 2030. The organization not only provides nutritious meals to those in need around the globe, especially in schools, orphanages and medical clinics; RAH also responds to crisis situations and develops sustainable ways to empower communities.
St. James and St. Paul have partnered for two purposes: to facilitate unity in our local community, and to lessen hunger in our greater global community. Our project leader Jennie has planned an afternoon where we will have the opportunity to work with, to share a meal with and to worship with neighbors we may not know.
Our churches participated in this project for the first time on Palm Sunday 2017, and everyone who volunteered had such a wonderful experience that we have planned another packing event for this year. If you weren't able to help last year, please consider joining us this time!

How the Meals Will Be Packed
Rise Against Hunger will provide all items necessary for the packing, including gloves and hairnets. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and shoes. We will hand out table numbers as you arrive, so that volunteers can meet those he/she/they will be working with.
Each volunteer will work at an assigned table with 5 volunteers per table. Each person at the table will have a portion of the meal that will be a part of each meal bag. There will be a funnel in the middle of the table. One person holds the meal bag under the funnel. One person scoops a vitamin mix and pours it into the funnel. The next person puts in a scoop of soy protein. The next volunteer adds a scoop of vegetables, and finally, a cup of rice is added to the mix. The meal is then sealed, labeled and boxed by other volunteers.
Rise Against Hunger has provided a Youtube video of meal packing instructions. Please watch the video below for more information.
