Other Activities

We may be called to reshape much of our life together - but we will NOT reshape our commitment to live in the light of God's love - which means we will not live in fear, we will not live in isolation, we will not stop loving our neighbor.

Care of Community

We will still continue to care for the community around us!

Room at the Table:  Room at the Table, which meets at St. James on the second Saturday of each month, allows us to assist in feeding those most vulnerable in our community. We will still offer meals at the regular time, although during the pandemic will offer them to-go.

Backpack Ministry: We continue our commitment to feeding the most vulnerable at Davenport Elementary School.  Our monthly weekend food is going out with the deliveries of school breakfasts & lunches.  We are coordinating with the other churches who take the other weeks of each month, as we are all now finding it difficult to shop for enough food!  Please quit hoarding more than you need  . . . the empty store shelves affect our ability to supply this food.

Faith Formation - Adults

We can't gather in person, but we can gather!  Join us for:
Tuesday Bible Study
Every Tuesday at 11:30 we study the Lectionary for the coming Sunday.  Now we're doing it in a Zoom meeting room.  Just click on this section (at 11:30 on Tuesdays)  to be taken to that room.

“Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again” by Rachel Held Evans.  Book Discussion Group, Wednesdays on Zoom at 10 am, beginning on July 15.

Settle in this summer with a GREAT book about a great book – and then join us as we gather weekly to discuss a chapter at a time.

Even if you can’t join the Zoom every week, you can read along and join us when you can.  There will be questions offered to the group each week to ponder as they approach the next chapter.  “Inspired” is available on Amazon in paperback or Kindle.

Faith  Formation - Children

The weekly Sunday School lessons are being sent by email to parents.  If you are not receiving them and would like to, please email the rector.

You will find children specific devotions and an "easier" coloring page for each of the Stations of the Cross on the page: Coloring Stations of the Cross

For other ideas and some GREAT resources check out the links on the Holy Week at Home with Children page.

General Resources for those with Children

Look for the Gifts: Praying with Children During a Pandemic by Christine V. Hides (ChristineVHides.com) has a great idea for a prayer jar, but it’s definitely not just for praying with children!

Coronavirus, Anxiety, Children and the Church by Angela Compton Nelson (Building Faith)

Faithful Parenting in a Pandemic by Wendy Claire Barrie (WendyClaireBarrie.com) offers some good ideas for different ages to engage, reflect on what’s happening, etc.
