Addiction & Substance Abuse

Project Lazarus
Project Lazarus is a public health nonprofit organized in Wilkes County, NC as a response to a high drug overdose rate. The project is a multi-variable model that has successfully reduced the mortality rate in Wilkes County, and is spreading awareness throughout North Carolina.
One service provided by Lazarus is the establishment of "pill drop" locations where citizens can bring unused medications, keeping those drugs off of the streets and away from children. There are two drop-offs in Caldwell County:

Lenoir City Police Department
1035 West Ave NW, Lenoir, NC 28645

Hudson Town Police Department
550 Central St, Hudson, NC 28638

For more information on this nonprofit, please visit the Project Lazarus website.
