The Altar Guild is called to serve God by preparing and tending where worship takes place. Members prepare and maintain linens, hangings, and vessels. They clean and polish all furnishings used in worship, including special services such as weddings and funerals. They also manage the funds and schedules for memorial candles and flowers.
Layreaders are a group of parishioners who read aloud the Lessons and lead the Prayers of the People at both services. They also serve the chalice during communion.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers take communion to people who are not able to attend services and wish to be able to partake of communion with us. Following the Wednesday healing service or either of the two Sunday services, a lay Eucharistic minister will take communion, using the blessed bread and wine from the service, to anyone who wishes to receive it.
Acolytes are adults and children trained to assist the priest during the service and to lead the processions into and out of the church.
Ushers and Greeters provide information, service bulletins, welcome, and directions for those entering the church. Familiar with the fundamentals of the service, ushers assist the priest by receiving the offerings of the congregation and guiding the flow of the congregation to the rail during the Eucharist.
Daughters of the King, an Episcopal order for women and girls founded in 1885, pledge themselves to daily prayers, service, and personal evangelism for the spread of Christ’s kingdom. They wear daily a cross as a symbol of commitment for their hearts, minds, and spirits. They create prayer shawls for the sick and serve as hostesses for funeral receptions at families’ requests.
